Yunnan is the region of "the south of colorful clouds" and a border area. In the Qin Dynasty, Li Bing and his son excavated the "Bo Road" in Sichuan (from Chengdu to Yibin). After the Qin Dynasty destroyed Dian, they built the "Five-foot Road" (from Yibin to Kunming). Zhang Qian returned from the western regions, because he found that there were Sichuan commodities (cloth, Qiong bamboo sticks) in central Asia, and learned that Sichuan could trade with India through Yunnan, so he suggested "open southwest barbarians". Zhang Qian sent four messengers to follow different caravans to explore their way, reaching Dianchi Lake as far as possible, but all of them were intercepted by indigenous tribes. later sima xianeru acted as a messenger, persuaded many tribes to surrender, and sent troops to conquer. he built "yongchang road" along the way, and finally made the han dynasty establish a southern silk road controlled by itself: "shu body poison road". Yunnan and the Central Plains have since been closely linked.
Although Yunnan is rich in water systems, in ancient times "there were boats and no cars". In this magical land, for thousands of years, teams of mules and horses have transported goods and materials and become the carrier of Yunnan's history and culture. They are called horse gangs. Their traces are all over this land, giving Yunnan a strong color. And unique charm.

On the rugged mountain road, the short and healthy Yunnan horses, forming a team of caravan, woven into a trade network throughout the southwest.
In fact, in addition to the standard lanes established in ancient China, which can use efficient transportation such as carriages and cattle carts, most of the land transportation in most parts of the ancient world was carried by pack. Because in ancient times, the manufacture and maintenance of vehicles was a lot of money, coupled with the animal power of traction, the cost was several times that of horses. Therefore, at that time, foreign vehicles, mostly urban road transport, lack of large-scale, long-distance material transport capacity. However, the dynasty of the Central Plains carried out long-distance and rapid transportation by vehicles, which tapped the potential of the land country's transportation capacity as much as possible and ensured the military needs of maintaining the vast territory.
